Online help with fire risk self-assessments

The Government has launched a new online 'gateway' to fire safety information and advice.

The site is aimed at both businesses and individuals and includes advice on fire prevention, as well as opportunities to request assistance from the fire and rescue services.

Businesses can complete an online self-assessment to check their progress in complying with the new Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order. Individuals can access information to help them self-assess their home fire safety and can make an online request for a free home fire safety visit.

Fire safety minister Angela Smith, said: "The Fire and Rescue Service has always been recognised for its excellence and professionalism when dealing with emergencies but it is now increasingly focussing on fire prevention work, to great effect.

"The Fire Gateway has been developed to provide advice and support to the public to reduce the risk of fires occurring in the first place."
