Is driving 'the most stressful thing we do'?

A quarter of motorists believe that driving is the most stressful thing they do, it was revealed today.

And more than two in five of drivers feel stressed behind the wheel, a survey from road information company Trafficmaster found. Nearly half (48%) of the 2,015 UK drivers polled said road-based stress affected their whole day and 41% said it affected them at least once a week.

Those who get stressed or experience road rage the most are drivers from south east England or the Midlands, with Scotland having the least-stressed drivers.

Trafficmaster spokesman Philip Hale said: "We're particularly concerned at how the effects of driving stress last throughout many people's day, impacting their productivity and effectiveness at work and potentially having a negative effect on their overall health.

"Being smart about your journeys can be critical in reducing stress in your life."
